Trafalga Inn
About This Spot
Nestled along the quiet stretch of St Leonards Drive in Chapel St Leonards, Trafalga Inn greets visitors with the subtle warmth of a well-loved local spot. Here, the pace slows just enough to encourage lingering over a pint or a meal, where the gentle hum of conversation mingles with the occasional clink of glasses. Whether you find a seat indoors or settle into the open-air patio, the atmosphere feels approachable and unpretentious—welcoming families, longtime locals, and holiday visitors alike.
Inside, the space is thoughtfully arranged to avoid the crush of crowded tables, inviting a comfortable rhythm to the evening. The staff move with a quiet attentiveness, striking a balance between friendly and unobtrusive, adding to the sense that you’re not just another diner passing through, but part of a small, shared experience.
The menu here reflects that same thoughtful spirit, offering familiar British classics alongside hearty shared plates. It’s easy to imagine the satisfying comfort of savoring a rich rack of ribs sauced just right, or the simple pleasure of fish and chips made freshly to order. There’s an underlying care for varied tastes too, with options that cater to vegetarians and gluten-free diners, all served in generous portions that invite you to relax rather than rush.
This isn’t the kind of place that feels hurried or flustered; occasional pauses—maybe a moment’s wait for food on a bustling night—seem part of the rhythm rather than a disruption. When the dishes arrive, they carry a warmth and homemade familiarity that keeps guests returning through the season, night after night.
Families find a particular ease here, with menus thoughtfully designed around little appetites and lively chatter that doesn’t feel out of place. And with its steady selection of beers and a comforting range of sweet treats, Trafalga Inn feels like an unpretentious hub where everyday occasions quietly turn into good memories.

Very nice friendly staff, plenty of seating inside and out. Lovely food and great selection of drinks.

Bit disappointed tonight, was their for birthday party meal, 9 people, wasn't busy in the restaurant but we waited ages for the food, there were diabetics with us that started to flag with the wait of the food, however when it arrived it was as gorgeous as every, the one thing that would make the meals better were the choice of 2 veg, instead of just peas, mushy peas or beans, puddings as gorgeous as ever, and entertainment brilliant, bingo great. The staff all work very hard and are always at your call when needed, but brilliant night apart from wait for food.

We ate here every night last week and couldn't fault it. The menu offers something for everyone. Every member of staff was super friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The food is fantastic and freshly prepared. Keep up the good work and we'll see you on our return

We (2 adults, 2 children) popped in for dinner on Sunday evening. The staff were all really friendly and attentive - the steak and ribs and Jersey chicken were delicious. Really reasonable prices and a 'set menu' option for kids with a drink and pudding. The pub itself wasn't too crammed with tables and we didn't feel rushed.

Found this pub by accident, but it is lovely place for meals. They do home made food as well as lots of other choices. The pub looks like a traditional place from the outside, but is very large once you get inside. A small note of caution, is to register your car on their system as soon as you arrive,if parking in the carpark of the pub.
